Course Description

This course is designed to empower teachers with neuro-affirming strategies to support autistic girls in secondary school settings. Using identity-first language, the course focuses on the unique ways autism may present in adolescent girls and explores topics such as masking, the double empathy problem, sensory sensitivities, and social and emotional wellbeing. Teachers will learn how to foster an inclusive environment that respects neurodiversity, enhances self-advocacy, and builds confidence. By celebrating strengths and reducing the need for masking, this course promotes authentic engagement and a school culture where autistic girls feel valued, understood, and supported in their educational journey.
