Course Description

The role of a professional learning leader (or its equivalent in your school) is crucial in fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth among staff. The professional learning leader acts as a catalyst for improvement, supporting the professional growth of teachers and staff to enhance student learning outcomes and contribute to the overall success of the school.


This PD will examine the key responsibilities and functions of a professional learning leader in education, and how to discharge these responsibilities effectively, including:

Dr Paul Teys began his career in education as a Maths & Physics teacher way back in the 1980s at Fairholme College in Toowoomba, QLD. His leadership journey saw him as a Head of Science, Head of Curriculum, Head of Secondary, Deputy Principal and Principal spanning more than 40 years. He was a principal in four schools and three states over more than 20 years. Now he works in his own consulting business, developing the next generation of leaders and principals.

Paul's thesis for the award of a Doctor of Education was Leading large, P-12, autonomous, independent schools: An Australian case study. His book, So You Want to Be a Principal, is published by Amba Press.
