Course Description
This course is an extension of Understanding Autism: What Teachers Need to Know for Their Classroom. The focus of this course is on developing practical strategies for use in the classroom.
Autistic students have different learning needs and, as educators, it is imperative to know and understand how to provide the best strategies to increase their confidence and success in learning.
Creating a positive classroom climate and connection with your students is a twofold approach to providing the best learning environment for all students and especially your diverse cohort. It is particularly important to ensure all students are provided the same opportunities and choices as those who do not have a disability (Disability Standards for Education, 2005).
In this course, we will explore the Positive Learning Environment - an evidence based practice that improves behavioural and academic outcomes. You will be provided with strategies that you can embed into your daily practice.
