Course Description

This course focuses on the deeper aim and purpose of teaching and learning. It is based on the underlying idea that any educational system is based on a philosophy of education and a view of the aim and purpose of education.

This course will look at a number of different views of the aim of education and unpack the aims behind the Australian Curriculum.

People are motivated by meaning, so it is important that teachers and students find teaching and learning meaningful. In this course, teachers will be asked to discover/construct their own deeper teaching purpose. They will also discuss ways to help students reflect on their own purpose at school so that they too can develop and satisfy an intrinsic thirst for learning.

Target Audience

This course is relevant to teachers of all years. It is especially suited to those teachers who want more out of teaching or are feeling burnt out.
