This interesting course investigates practical applications of GARAGEBAND for Stage 4/5/6 Music. Students can be very adept with their electronic devices, and by utilising this existing motivator, teachers can create fun and interesting ways to engage students using GARAGEBAND.

Sessions

DAWs, Audio and MIDI

30 minutes

DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) operate and communicate using digital language. Understanding how AUDIO and MIDI are interpreted by GARAGEBAND will provide opportunities to explore musical interactions with the APP.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their findings with the group and offer helpful insights they gained from their path of discovery.

Composing With GARAGEBAND

1 hour and 30 minutes

There are many ways to compose with GARAGEBAND. This session will investigate various paths to composing with the APP.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their findings with the group and offer helpful insights they gained from their path of discovery.

LOOPS, DRUMMER and FX

1 hour

This session will investigate how LOOPS and DRUMMER work withing GARAGEBAND. The use of FX will also be covered, including EQ, Compression, and Mixdown techniques.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their findings with the group and offer helpful insights they gained from their path of discovery.

GARAGEBAND for Live Performance and Accompaniment

1 hour

This session will investigate how to integrate live performances into GARAGEBAND recordings, and how to use GARAGEBAND as an accompaniment tool.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their findings with the group and offer helpful insights they gained from their path of discovery.

Activities and Assessment Task Specifics

1 hour

In this session, participants will discover how to GARAGEBAND into practical classroom activities and Assessment Tasks for AURAL.

What To Bring

Participants are required to bring a device with GarageBand installed and headphones.
