This course shows teachers how to harness the Power of the Powerpoint – leaning how to use features such as animations, motion paths, hyperlinks and other actions – to create exciting and engaging powerpoint shows, quizzes and even movies!!!

Animations: Moving objects

Learn how to animate objects and text using Powerpoint, and how these can be used within a slide show to enhance the learning activity. Create an animated story page!
Animations: The Animation Pane
45 minutes
Online delivery
Learn how to re-order animations and create complex animations within a single slide. Use timing and delay with multiple animations to turn your slide into an exciting interactive show. Share ideas about how this can be used within a classroom, for example to present information or to create exciting math’s quizzes.
Triggers

Online delivery
Learn how to use a trigger within a Powerpoint slide to create interactive digital resources (great for use with Interactive Whiteboards – IWB). Create simple triggers that begin animations, or set up multiple triggers within a text to make an interactive digital dictionary or e-book. Share ideas about how these can be used, for example as second language dictionaries or to create an interactive big-book on the IWB.
Adding Sound and Vision

Online delivery
How to create a sound or video file and insert it into the Powerpoint slide. Use triggers (Module 3) and animations (Module 2) to work with the sound file to create narrations or show multiple videos.
Turning your slides into videos

Online delivery
How to save your Powerpoint Slide show into a video clip – using transitions, timing and narration to make an exciting video and then embed this into your website or blog. Share ideas about how this can both enhance learning and as advocacy for your subject area.
Creating an interactive Board
45 minutes
Online delivery
Using all of the tools introduced, participants will create complex interactive slides which can be used as interactive resources with Interactive Whiteboards. Various alternatives (disappear vs. pulse, motion vs. appear) will be examined and participants will create their own interactive resource in their subject area.
Hyperlinks and Actions
45 minutes
Online delivery
Participants will learn how to insert hyperlinks and other actions within a slide show, and discover how triggers can be used to initiate these actions. They will learn how to create a ‘home page’ and how to order actions and links to make their presentation multi-directional.
Now it's your turn

Participants will be challenged to create their own interactive Powerpoint resource and share, with online troubleshooting and support from the presenter.

I have taught Japanese across private, catholic and government schools from Foundation to Yr 12. I am currently teaching Foundation to Year 6 students and use both iPads and Web 2.0 tools to engage students and enhance the learning experience.
