Lauren Cook

teaching, learning, English, wellbeing, leadership

Lauren Cook can’t remember a time when she didn’t want to teach. From the beginning of her career in 2001, she strove to understand what was at the basis of good teaching and learning.

Lauren spent many of her early years of teaching in brand new schools, where the exploration of best practice was at the forefront. Lauren undertook a variety of leadership roles from curriculum to professional learning to student management. She also joined the Faculty of Education at Deakin University to work with pre-service teachers.

Since 2010 Lauren has had significant leadership roles in both public and private educational institutions with portfolios in subject leadership (English), curriculum and wellbeing. She is now Head of Senior Boys at a senior campus of an independent school and was recognised for her work in boys wellbeing by a New Voices Scholarship for Educational Leadership in 2019. In the preceding year, she also undertook an international action research project on boys and stories and has presented on both the local and the international stage to teachers and principals alike.
