General Description

This online course is based on the best selling ‘And Gladly Teach’, a teacher handbook for fostering student engagement and building cooperative classrooms. AGT is designed around a simple idea: that teachers want practical, easy-to-use examples of how to put the latest thinking on teaching into their everyday classrooms. Indeed, the test for whether or not an activity made it into the book was not just whether it was backed by research but whether it also worked in real classrooms on hot Friday afternoons. This workshop is an extension of AGT. It gives participants a chance to trial the highly effective engagement and cooperative classroom strategies from the book, getting individualised feedback on how to make the most out of these techniques in a way that best suits their specific school situation. The product of partnership between TTA and TLN Press, this is a rare opportunity to work closely with a leading educational author as your personal teacher-coach.

Practical Strategies for creating engaged and cooperative Classrooms - Online
by Craig Brissett on 29/06/2016

The course overall was insightful and provided some meaningful strategies. It also challenged me to think about new ways of approaching my teaching. Some of the concepts that were covered were very relevant to my school setting, whilst others I felt would more suited to a younger audience (primary).

I have enjoyed this course thoroughly. It has given lots of ideas for engaging students in the classroom. I had a little trouble timewise, but completed it.
It would have been great to use some of the activities on different classes but at this time of the year with exams, camps and other end of year activities
I was unable to. I will definitely program them into my lessons next year. Thank You

I really enjoyed manipulating the resources to compliment my teaching strategies. I found that it empowered me to make decisions about how I run behaviour management in my classroom and now that I am finding it easier and easier to engage students in learning. Now my classes are fun instead of feeling like a chore at times. I loved it how I could just give strategies a whirl and alter them as I went along. It gave me the reigns back in my classrooms. Thanks TTA!

I really enjoyed this course. I found it hands on and enjoyed implementing the different strategies. I have already shared some of the ideas with my colleagues and encouraged them to take the course as professional learning. The handbook will provide some useful reading in the weeks to come. I am looking forward to trying some of the strategies with classes that I have not attempted yet.
