General Description

This ONLINE course is based on the best selling ‘And Gladly Teach,’ a teacher handbook for fostering student engagement and building cooperative classrooms. AGT is designed around a simple idea: that teachers want practical, easy-to-use examples of how to put the latest thinking on teaching into their everyday classrooms. Indeed the test for whether or not an activity made in into the book was not just whether it was backed by research but whether it also worked in real classrooms on hot Friday afternoons. This workshop is an extension of the AGT. It gives participants a chance to trial the highly effective engagement and cooperative classroom strategies from the book; getting individualized feedback on how to make the most out of these techniques in a way that best suits their specific school situation. The product of partnership between TTA and TLN Press, this is a rare opportunity to work closely with a leading educational author as your personal Teacher-Coach.

Practical Strategies for Creating Engaged and Cooperative Classrooms
by Aqeela Ashfaq on 01/12/2016

I am very pleased to attend this course because the strategies provided in this course are really helpful in creating an engaged and cooperative classroom.
The course layout is really effective and the supporting material is really helpful.. However I have some students who come with a mentality of self entitlement and I am afraid small praises do not work with them. I am looking for something that works for them.

I found the practical strategies, along with their descriptions and video demonstrations, very useful. I also appreciated receiving a copy of the “And Gladly Teach” book which I will keep as a handy reference and source of ideas. However, I was a bit disappointed that there was little to no interaction with other students, as the course seemed to be under-enrolled and forums posts from other participants tended to be very brief and largely unconstructive. There was also no feedback or acknowledgement of my replies from the course co-ordinator.

I found this course very useful with strategies that I was able to put into action almost immediately. I was skeptical before enrolling because of the cost and wondered how much I would get out of the course. It has given me a lot to think about and given me new ways of engaging my class. The book supplied with the course is also Helpful.

I found this course to be really engaging with a lot of simple to implement but effective strategies which were of great benefit to my classroom. Initially I was concerned about the online format however the ability to complete the course at my own pace, revisit concepts and engage in professional discussion throughout was excellent and certainly enabled me to get more from the course.

I found this course excellent. Especially the hands on activities that we were given and the chance to read other teachers ideas and feedback. My kids especially love buzz 11 and the word clouds.
