General Description

The new Year 11 Extension Mathematics Course borrows quite heavily in parts from the old extension 2 course. New material in the Functions component will be presented with to bring clarity, to both the mathematics that underpins the material, and in how to present that material to students. Polynomial and its coverage of multiple roots will also be treated in depth.

The presentation of new material in Inverse Functions will prove almost impossible with out the use of technology. Fully developed PowerPoint presentations incorporating Geogebra will prove to be invaluable teaching resources.

Exponential Growth and Decay and Motion presented so much earlier in the course provides a unique challenge. This will be addressed in detail.

An extended coverage of the Combinatorics topic including Binomial Expansions and the pigeon hole principle will enable teachers to present the material with confidence.

Carefully considered assessment task ideas and sample test questions will be provided along with other electronic resources.
