General Description

This course Future Makers: Get your Brain into Gear” focuses on design, CAD and a little bit of slicing and 3d printing. This collection of instructional videos and sequenced lessons, provides teachers and students with the skills to embark on a journey of using CAD, slicing & 3D Printing in the classroom. All the lessons are graded from easy to more difficult with learning intentions provided as part of the student rubric and diagnostic grid for the final assessment task.

There are five modules which will take you from designing to understanding Tinkercad and then how to slice and 3d print your object. I have taught these engaging lessons to students and they always amaze me with what they come up with. The sessions are supported by instructional videos which will help you move progressively through the course.

I am a teacher who has taught in the classroom, ESL, Learning Support and RFF. Ben is an engineer and has been involved in 3D Printing over the last five years. Our Course has been endorsed by NESA, we are running holiday workshops at the Science Centre in Wollongong, running Learning Labs (for gifted and talented students) for primary and high school students at UOW. Team Modfab has travelled extensively with the Australian Design Centre to deliver design, CAD and 3d printing courses to regional galleries around Australia as part of the Shapeshifters Exhibition. Our endeavours have also taken us up to Arnhem Land on many occasions training elders and students to use design, CAD and 3d Printing. Ernest Gondarra (one of our elders) in 2017 secured a coveted IDX Elder of the Year Award for 3d printing – Plastic Fantastic.
