Format Description

The face-to-face format of this presentation will enable participants to collaboratively discuss key elements of successful classroom management.

Participants will receive individual assistance as they design their own classroom management strategic plan.

Sessions

THE BAD

40 minutes

Participants will identify the main factors that make classroom management challenging.

A list of factors will be collected by the group and then discussed together.

Factors will be analysed in terms of which can be minimised with effective teacher-directed strategies.

THE GOOD

1 hour and 20 minutes

Participants will explore the main elements crucial for establishing the foundation of tremendously terrific teaching practice.

Data from relevant research will be presented that explains the impact of teacher-directed classroom management strategies.

The group will share elements of classroom practice they have used that are positive, practical and proven.

THE BETTER

1 hour and 40 minutes

Participants will establish the three principles that will underpin their successful daily classroom practice.

The group will discuss the merits and weaknesses of the three principles.

Individuals will design and then share their personal three-step principles that is tailored for their own classroom.

THE BEST

1 hour and 20 minutes

Participants will discuss the three character strengths that will be developed in individual students within the classroom structure.

The group will brainstorm character strengths that could be targeted in the classroom, the merit of these strengths and then practical, positive and proven strategies for their implementation.

Participants will be given individual assistance to begin planning how these will be implemented into their own classrooms.
