General Description

This is a course aimed at teaching the fundamentals of website creation for application in upper junior school, middle school and lower senior school.

The course will teach the skills and develop the understanding required to teach an interdisciplinary unit combining website coding with another subject.

In this course we will first discuss the context, that is the Digital Technologies Curriculum & Sciences and Technologies Syllabus.

We will then go through the materials and resources provided with this course, how to use them and the different options for teaching styles with website coding and the provided unit package.

Next we investigate why we teach website coding, and delve into the applications for interdisciplinary projects.

We will then introduce website coding, defining and understanding the core languages behind this, HTML, CSS & Javascript.

Teachers then get hands on and participate in a student focused web coding session, and build a website themselves using Webcoder.

We will debrief the session by going through all the teachers websites and discussing how they would be assessed.

Feedback will be collected on the session, then we say goodbye and distribute the extra materials.
