General Description

Green screen movie making with iPads applies technology in the classroom creatively, in a way that engages students with content, develops literacy and improves learning outcomes. 21st century learning is at the heart of the movie making process and this 1 day program demystifies the process for any teacher interested in bringing multi-modal learning to their practice.

This is an interactive, hands-on program. Teachers will collaborate through a number of movie-making tasks, both in front and behind the camera. From writing, rehearsing to crewing, editing, watching and reviewing, in our mini-movie festival at the conclusion of the workshop.

Understanding how video can enhance your teaching and taking away practical tools for the classroom is the aim of this program. For those already applying technological strategies in the classroom, this course will enhance and develop your skills to the next level.

Sessions

Introduction

30 minutes

During the introduction, participants will learn how digital literacy and the integration of green screen technology film making can promote modern learning in a future focused curriculum.

Presenting to Camera

1 hour

During this session, participants learn the fundamental ideas of presenting to camera. Roles within a film crew are also explored and participants will have the opportunity to take on these roles when filming during this session.

Editing:

30 minutes

Participants will be shown how to edit with the iMovie app using the footage filmed in the previous session

Fundamentals of Green Screen Technology

2 hours

Intro Maker APP (Introduction creation technology)
Participants will be shown to set up the My School Studio. They will be taught the fundamental aspects of green screen technology and its importance in the classroom. Using the roles outlines in early sessions, participants will use green screen technology to create a short 2 minute film. Participants will be shown how to operate the Veescope App. After filming occurs participants then have the opportunity to edit their film.

Integration into the Curriculum

1 hour

After participating in the hands on sessions, participants will have the opportunity to reflect and discuss in an open forum on how green screen technology can redefine technology.

He is currently undertaking a Master’s in Screen Arts and Business at AFTRS, completing a thesis on how the movie making process develops collaborative skills in students. He has over 20 years working as a producer, director, actor and educator.
