Do you want to develop a Growth Mindset in your students? Would you like to learn the strategies, techniques and approaches that will engender and develop the Growth Mindset in your classroom?
The research of internationally renowned psychologist Carol Dweck has repeatedly demonstrated the importance of a Growth Mindset to student motivation and achievement.
Led by Australia and New Zealand’s only certified Mindset trainer, James Anderson, this workshop will show you how to think like a Growth Mindset teacher.
Contrary to some reports, Mindset is not about belief. It’s about understanding. It’s about an understanding of what truly builds talent, abilities and indeed intelligence. Over the course of the day you’ll learn to identify the roots of your student’s, parent’s and perhaps your own fixed mindset as you uncover the scientific basis behind the acquisition of talent.
James will then show you how to apply these understandings in your classroom. Using practical strategies James will help you shift your teaching focus from content and standards, to process and growth. As a result you will encourage the development of a Growth Mindset and improve student motivation and performance.
Finally James will show you how to “talk the talk” as we investigate praise and feedback from the perspective of the Growth Mindset. You’ll leave with a powerful set of tools that can be applied to classroom conversation, feedback on assignments and assessment tasks, as well as reporting.

Excellent presenter. Enjoyed small group work and the strategy used.
Some more time on application beyond theory would be great (e.g. language).
Thank you for all your efforts.
Very interesting and engaging speaker.
Great! broken down into sections that were clear and practical.
Very high quality PowerPoint presentation with provocative visuals. James' thorough familiarity with his topic enabled him to present his material in an engaging manner but also to work with our questions/tangents. James' capacity to generate cognitive assonance by catching us with anti-intuitive ideas which challenged our assumptions was a stand-out.
Content covered really well. Challenging and informative. Immediately evident this is such a bigger picture concept but a teacher can make a difference in their own classroom immediately.
Interesting and engaging delivery of the content/knowledge around growth mindsets. Enjoyed the interactive activities. Would like more on practical strategies/activities to use in the school and/or classroom.
A very interesting course with good resources but I would’ve liked to have more practical strategies I could take back to school to share.
Challenging, thought-provoking at times. Great sharing of practices.
Impressive presentation. Skilled, highly informed, engaging.
More school based/classroom strategies or sharing of ideas of school based strategies.
Presenter was enthusiastic and engaging.
Challenging and worthwhile workshop. Engaging presentation.
Informative and supported practice with evidence.
Had some new ideas on Growth Mindset. The session could have improved if we were told how much ability counts.
Good course but a few more varied activities would have made it easier to stay engaged.
Some thought-provoking messages and background to the mechanics of growth mindsets.
Some more practical type to break up sitting needed. Some very interesting ideas though.
