General Description

Your school has handed you an iPad. You’re expected to do something with it and you don’t know where to start? What to do? What apps should I start with? How can I teach using the iPad and Apps?
When I first started on the iPad journey, I downloaded so many apps, it was impossible to learn how to use them all effectively. Further along my journey, I realized there were many apps I hadn’t even opened yet and were going to waste on my IPad desktop.
I also hear from teachers that they have ‘tablets’ at their school, but they are only being used as reward for students who finish their work early or as a ‘games’ session. I firmly believe we are missing the true power of what the iPad can do if we ONLY use it for games and rewards. This device and specific apps can transform YOUR classroom like never before: the technology brings your classroom into the 21st Century; increases student engagement and motivation; students become collaborative partners in the learning process; your lessons can easily be matched to the Australian Curriculum; and individualized learning has never been easier to achieve.
I now advise teachers to only download a few apps at a time; learn them; use them in lessons; work out how you can incorporate them so that they align with the Australian Curriculum; and finally learn how to engage and motivate your students to ‘learn’ using 21st Century technology.
It was during a training session with teachers that it occurred to me, why not create a Course that focuses on ten apps and how to incorporate them in your daily lessons that meets curriculum.
So this course is exactly as promised; ten apps that are PERFECT for your classroom. This course will assist you to master these apps, incorporate and utilize the apps in your daily lessons and come away with the confidence to use them with your students to meet the Curriculum requirements.

Audience

All Primary & Secondary teachers including Support Staff. The course is designed so that strategies suggested can be implemented irrespective of age level.

The course was excellent, I have struggled with integrating technology into the classroom and this course gave me no end of ideas and options to explore over the next few years across all my 7-12 classes.

An interesting course that has provided valuable information for implementing apps in a new and meaningful way to engage student learning. It explored great apps that I had no knowledge about in ways that link them to education. It also provided me new insight into ways to use iMovie to programming. It is a worthwhile course to engage 21 Century learners and way to improve your professional ICT knowledge and skills.

I really enjoyed this course. It was structured in a way that was easy to understand and follow. There was a variety of different apps that can be used in the classroom and I have already started working on some for my classroom. I recommend that all teachers should complete this course as there is something for every teacher in every classroom.

This course gave me great insight into some apps that I was unaware of that will be great to use in the classroom. The apps were relevant and interactive for teaching and learning. I did have some technical issues uploading some of my work which added to the time spent and I would say that completing the full course probably took me more than the 6 hours which are credited for BOSTES PD hours. Overall it was valuable and relevant.

For me it was a great discovery of all the iPad apps that could help me in my daily work as a teacher. However, beyond this personal satisfaction, I must commend the course organiser for having supported me greatly during this course. I am not a whizz kid in these apps, and Karina really guided me along and allowed me to progress at my pace.

I really enjoyed learning about the apps as I had absolutely no experience with an iPad prior to this course. I was able to start creating lessons/assignments etc from this course and have used some already in my lessons. My students have enjoyed the fresh take of course work and the facilitator was extremely helpful and had some great ideas for me to try.

Good starter for using Ipads in class. I would have like more instruction in
how to download and use completed work using the apps ie how to download
iMovies for general viewing or how a class can download their creations.
